The Dutch National Opera & Ballet is looking for a Head of Opera Costume Production - Mobile

The opera costume department works with around 45 permanent staff and a varying number of flexible workers. Work is also outsourced to external studios. Each year, thousands of costumes, headwear and hats, shoes and accessories are made, adjusted and customised.

What they are looking for a Head of Opera Costume Production who has:

• Knowledge of the craft, experience with the process of creating theatre costumes.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain an overview; you can create a sense of both energy and calm in the department.
• Should a crisis arise, you are not afraid to take decisions - after consultation with the relevant people.
• You know how much time and money it takes to make a X number of modern, historical or fantasy items, and which resources can be used to create the desired silhouette on the stage.
• You make effective use of the qualities of your direct colleagues and maintain contact with other departments and external studios.
• You have at least five years’ experience in similar roles in performing arts, preferably in an international context.
• You have a good command of English. You are willing to learn Dutch.

What they are offering

• Depending on knowledge and experience, a yearly salary of between € 39.411,- and
  € 55.741,-, including 8% holiday pay
• A one-year employment contract, with the intention to extend
• 35 days’ holiday
• Training opportunities
• A contribution towards a gym membership
• A contribution towards commuting expenses
• A good pension scheme and some nice extras such as a bicycle scheme and the possibility to attend both opera and ballet performances.
• Under certain conditions, a tax benefit for foreign employees can be claimed for up to five years.
