Internship (m/f/d) in the DNA – the Data, Analytics & AI Engineering Unit
Volkswagen is looking for an intern that will help the company discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data and help the company make smarter decisions to deliver even better products. As the Data, Analytics & AI-Unit (“DNA”), the team is responsible for establishing analytics and artificial intelligence as the company’s core competencies. The team prototypes, measures, and executes state-of-the-art data analytics use cases on AWS for the company’s international subsidiaries. To ensure this, they work in interdisciplinary teams consisting of data scientists, data engineers, and product managers.

Your Responsibilities

  • Supporting the activities of the DNA teams in advancing data science projects
  • Processing, cleaning, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
  • Accomplishing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results clearly
  • Helping the company analyze & improve the performance of machine learning techniques
  • Provided a suitable topic, the possibility to write a master thesis exists

Your Profile

  • You are a matriculated student (m/f/d)
  • Good understanding of common machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as decision-tree based approaches, gradient boosting, (un)supervised learning
  • Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, probability, statistical testing, regression
  • Programming skills (e.g, python) and, ideally, first practical experiences and a good understanding of functional and object-oriented programming
  • Data-oriented personality
  • You like to work in interdisciplinary teams and to share knowledge
  • You can communicate fluently in English (or German)
  • You are currently aiming for a master’s degree
Ideally, you can spend 6 months with the company, working in either Braunschweig or Berlin.
