Quantitative Power Markets Analyst (m/f/x)

At Volue Insight the company enables its customers to do data driven decision making โ spanning from creating pricing models for energy products, when to buy energy, when to invest in renewable power plants or power-consuming industry. The team consists of quantitative and market analysts, who work closely together with data scientists, software developers, marketing and sales to build models predicting the energy market in mid- and long term, and report their findings. The team produces high quality long-term markets reports, capture price analysis and forward markets forecasts and commentaries.
Volue insight from is growing, and the company is looking for a Quantitative Power Markets Analyst to strengthen its Mid- and Long-term Analysis team.

Your Responsibilities
- Development and modelling of mid- and long-term price forecasts for Asian and European countries based on established modelling tools (Plexos, EMPS)
- Project management, such as expanding the forecasts into new geographical areas
- Together with the development team improving existing models, workflows and create automations for future and past processes
- Fundamental model development and maintenance (validation and updating, interpretation of results)
- Contribute to product development by identifying new opportunities and expanding its capabilities
- Continuously increasing quality by evaluating, extending and improving the company’s current products
- Cooperate with the development, analysts, marketing, sales teams to ensure reliable and consistent data flows, as well as commercial success
- Communicate the company’s views and model insights both via web and events all over Europe
- Engaging with the company’s customers in order to understand their requirements and serve the best analytical products

Your Profile
- Strong academic background, preferably master in economic, engineering, physics, mathematics or data science
- Experience in working with dispatch/fundamental and capacity expansion models for the energy market, such as Plexos or EMPS, is a strong advantage
- Experience from power markets in one or several parts of Europe or Japan, understanding of the application of market and policy developments into modelling
- Experience in programming in python
- Project management skills and abilities to work independently, as well as strong focus on goal delivery and project completion, enablement of others to succeed
- Strong skills in mathematics, statistics or optimization are preferable
- Excellent team-player with very good communication and presentation skills
- Fluency in English is a must; German and/or Japanese languages will be beneficial
- Structured and analytical approach to all tasks.
